Privacy policy
In short
This website is purely informational. It contains no contact forms, no cookies and no embedded third-party content. The fonts are served from our own server, so no connection is made to Google Fonts or any other external provider.
We do count which pages are read. The software for this runs on our own server; no outside analytics service is embedded, and your data is passed on to nobody. Nothing is stored on your device in the process — which is why there is no cookie banner here. The details are further down, under Audience measurement.
The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is Gästehaus Ehweiner GmbH, as named in the legal notice.
Language suggestion
On the German pages, visitors whose browser is set to English are shown a note pointing to the English version. To do this, the page reads the language configured in your browser. That information is neither stored nor transmitted to us or to any third party.
If you dismiss the note, your browser remembers this in what is called session storage. The entry holds nothing but the value “dismissed”, disappears when you close the tab, cannot be traced back to you and never reaches our server. No cookie is set for it.
Server log files
When you open the website, your browser transmits technically necessary data that our web server records in log files:
- the address requested
- the date and time of access
- the volume of data transferred and the HTTP status code
- the referring page
- browser type and operating system
- IP address
This data is required to operate and secure the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, uninterrupted operation). Log files are deleted after seven days at the latest and are not combined with any other data.
Audience measurement
To see which pages are read and which routes our guests take through them, we use Umami — analytics software we run ourselves, on our own server in Germany. No service provider is involved: the data collected stays on that server, is not passed on, not sold and not transferred to any third country.
For every page view we record:
- the page requested and the page you came from (the referrer)
- the date and time
- browser, operating system, device type and screen size
- the language configured in your browser
- the country, derived from the IP address — and, where the lookup allows, the region and town
We also count which buttons and links are clicked: “Enquire”, the email address, the telephone numbers, “View on the map”, the start of the video, the images in the gallery, the change of language and the links to the leisure destinations. What you read, type or select on the page is not recorded; there is no mouse tracking and no session replay.
No cookies, no profile. Umami stores nothing on your device — neither cookies nor entries in browser storage. Your IP address is not stored. It is used only to determine the country of origin and, together with the browser identification, to compute a check value that holds the page views of one visit together. That value cannot be reversed, and the additional value that goes into it changes every month — at which point even that link is severed. We cannot identify a person from it. Nothing is followed across other websites; the statistics know about this site alone.
What remains is a set of figures with no personal reference — for instance: “the rooms page was opened 800 times in March, and the email address was clicked 40 times.”
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in knowing which content is in demand and whether the route to an enquiry works. Since no cookies are set and no information is read from your device, no consent under § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 is required.
If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” signal, we do not count your visit. You will find the setting among your browser’s privacy options. Independently of that, you may object to the measurement at any time — the address for this is in the legal notice.
Contacting us
If you contact us by email or telephone, we process the data you provide solely in order to deal with your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Data from booking enquiries is kept for as long as statutory retention periods require.
Your rights
You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Please write to the address given in the legal notice.
If you believe the processing of your data infringes data protection law, you may lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority: www.dsb.gv.at.

On the “Leisure” page we link to the websites of other businesses. Their content, and their handling of your data, is solely their responsibility.
